I am going to strangle Steven if John doesn’t beat me to it. What was he thinking? Showing up unannounced at my door in the middle of my engagement party?! It was over between us years ago – years!! It’s a good thing Anna never lost her cool, even for a second, and dragged him away from John before they could start World War 3 in my living room.

Any time, sweetie. I’m just wondering… does Steven know it was over years ago? Old flames don’t show up uninvited unless they’ve got an agenda, you know.
Yes, he knows. And apparently, that’s not stopping him!
Sis, you never told me what really happened with you and Steven.
Well, we were together throughout my JC and university years, but he had a job offer from an investment company in Perth after he graduated. I was ready to get my master’s degree there just to be with him. We even talked about settling down in Australia, but Mum and Dad were dead set against the idea of me studying overseas, let alone moving to Australia permanently. We knew it wasn’t going to work, so… we resigned ourselves to fate and went our separate ways. It was a long time ago, Min. My heart is completely with John now.
And… does Steven know that?
Judging from the text messages he sent me, he still thinks he has a chance to win me back and stop the wedding. I’m not surprised; he always did have an ego the size of Jupiter. He can try to stop the wedding, but I’m immune to his charms. I got over him ages ago.
Really, now? And where is that lovely Tiffany’s charm bracelet he got you for your graduation present? The one I saw you wearing when you met me for coffee at Raffles Place just two weeks ago?
Come on, Anna, you know I don’t throw jewellery away!
Sis! You still keep the presents he gave you?!
Just the jewellery! The gifts don’t have any sentimental value, okay? I just don’t like throwing away sparkly things
Guys, stop worrying. Steven is going to realise that stopping the wedding is an exercise in futility, and everything is going to be just FINE.
It had better be, because if he makes me lose our banquet deposit, John’s going to have to get in line to beat him up.
